How long will nuts and chocolates last?
Stored correctly, all nuts and chocolates are best eaten within 12 months from their manufacture.
NutShop recommend all caramelised nut products to be eaten within six months, cinnamon almonds and cinnamon pecans are best eaten within 9 months.
All products should have a ‘best before’ date on them.
How should nuts and chocolates be stored?
NutShop nuts will keep best of all in our sealed laminated bags which have oxygen and moisture barrier. When opened, the best way to store nuts and chocolates is in an airtight jar / container, in a cool, dark and dry location, away from direct sunlight. If left open, NutShop’s caramelised products in particular will stick in humid weather. Do not store chocolates or caramelised nuts in the refrigerator unless they are completely airtight. Allow products to return to room temperature to stop condensation before consuming.
Are there allergens present in nuts and chocolates?
PEANUTS and / or TREE NUTS
- Most products at NutShop contain nuts. Anyone with severe nut allergies should not consume any NutShop products.
- Whilst NutShop does manufacture a range of ‘nut free’ products, they have come into contact with machinery that has been used to manufacture nut products and therefore are not safe for those with severe nut allergies.
DAIRY
- Most nuts do not carry dairy ingredients. Milk chocolate and buttered products cannot be considered dairy free.
- Whilst NutShop’s dark chocolate does not contain milk, we cannot guarantee that it has not come into contact with milk chocolate products.
- NutShop factory processes dairy products, so that there may be traces of dairy in other products.
SOY
- Raw, roasted, salted, caramelised and buttered nuts do not contain soy. Soy lecithin is used as an emulsifier in all chocolates.
EGG
- All soft center chocolates contain egg white.
SULPHITES
- Generally, all dried fruits contain sulphites.
GLUTEN
- NutShop uses wheat based glucose in a number of items, which should be noted by those with gluten intolerances.
- Gluten is present in products brought into NutShop such as licorice, marshmallow and many lolly lines.
Does NutShop use compound chocolates?
No.
What is NutShop’s food safety procedure?

Does NutShop manufacture kosher products?
A large range of NutShop products have been certified kosher by the Kashrut Authority of NSW. Click here to view the kosher certificates listing all kosher products. NutShop kosher products are available in Sydney and Melbourne. Stockists in Sydney include Krinsky’s on Bondi Road.
In Melbourne, stockists are Dainty Foods, Kosher Kingdom and The Coffee Company.
Are NutShop products halal?
NutShop products have not been certified halal.
Are nuts healthy?
Consuming nuts on a regular basis has been shown to have numerous positive health benefits. A handful of nuts, 30g each day is recommended for a healthy lifestyle. It does not matter which nuts you eat or how. Eat them any which way you like. In a salad, on their own, in pesto, bake bread or in a smoothie. The varieties are endless!
Nuts are very beneficial in helping you get a good night’s sleep and contain bioactive components that act on inflammation. Eating nuts is excellent for heart health, reducing cholesterol and helping control body weight. Eating nuts adds fiber to your diet and help reduce the risk of diabetes.

Are raw nuts or roasted nuts healthier?
All nuts contain good fat. Raw and dry roasted nuts are healthier than oil roasted. Even when a nut is salted, it is still healthy to consume.
What is panned chocolate?
Chocolate panning is an artisan chocolate making method that requires slowly pouring the chocolate over a round tumbling pan of nuts and fruits. It gives a delicious layer of chocolate over the center and a smooth rounded appearance on the outside. NutShop has a wide selection of panned chocolate nuts and dried fruit products. A spectacular product is milk chocolate almonds sold in 200g, 500g bags and in 175g, 450g jars at NutShop stores and online.
What is enrobed chocolate?
An enrobed chocolate is typically when a center of the chocolate in made first, it’s then placed on a moving belt and is passed under a chocolate curtain and bottoming bed to be completely coated in a thin layer of tempered chocolate. This process gives the product a flat bottomed appearance. NutShop blends its own pure chocolate for enrobing using a dark chocolate blend of 73% cocoa solids, whilst its creamy Australian made milk chocolate has 26% cocoa solids. Beautiful products are dark chocolate vienna almonds, peppermint creams and chocolate ginger. All are sold at NutShop stores and online.
Why does NutShop source products worldwide?
Most nuts are grown in Australia. There are some nuts that are more suited to being grown in hot tropical climates like cashews and brazil nuts which are only grown in the Amazon rainforest. Sometimes there are nuts in such demand, that to meet the demand, we need to source from overseas as well as internally.
The cocoa for making chocolate is grown in commercial quantities in countries like the Ivory Coast and Ghana.
How is my order shipped if chocolate is included?
Orders with chocolate must be sent with express shipping.
During hot/warm weather NutShop will do its utmost to protect your chocolates during transit. During periods of extreme heat we may delay posting your order until the weather cools down. We will notify you by email when it is/will be dispatched.
Why can I only choose express shipping?
Any online order that includes a chocolate product must be sent express. If your order totals over $150, you get a 50% express shipping discount.
